Emeritus Prof. Athanasios Tsaftaris (AT-Male) born in Drama city, studied in Thessaloniki and North Carolina. During his studies in addition his bachelor degree he obtained one master and two PhDs in Plant Genetics. For more than forty years, he teaches two undergraduate and two graduate courses and oversee many master and PhD thesis. He established CERTH and served in its board for more than 12 years. During his service as the minister of Agriculture, he finalized the negotiation and the final agreement for the common agricultural policy of EU for the next 5 years particularly during the sixth month Greek presidency. He has more than 200 publications in SCI journals with the h-index =26 and more than 2000 citations.
Mr. Kazantzis Konstantinos (KK-Male) is an agriculturist of Technological Education (pomologist), has graduated from the Technological Education Institution of Larissa and is an educational trainer of adults. He is currently an employee at the Department of Deciduous Fruit Trees, Institute of Plant Breeding and Genetic Resources, Hellenic Agricultural Organization Demeter. His scientific interests include the study and evaluation of local and foreign genotypes of stone fruit with emphasis on cherry trees. More specific, he studies the training systems of trees, the new cultivation techniques, the improvement of tree yield and fruit quality, the study of phonological tree stages, the laboratory analysis of fruit quality, the evaluation of the resistance of cherry cultivars in pests, the tree diseases and various environmental stresses, the plant protection against pests and diseases, the tree propagation, the hybridization for the production of new cultivars, the data evaluation in PC etc. To date, he has been author/co-author of three books (the one in English), of one chapter in one book (in English), of three educational manuals for growers, of 15 papers in foreign journals (13 of them referred), of 10 articles in Hellenic Conferences, of 8 articles in International Conferences, of 37 articles in national journals, and tenths of articles in newspapers and websites.
Dr. Christos Kissoudis (CK-Male) holds a BSc and an MSc, with a specialization in Plant Genetics and Breeding, from Aristotle University. He obtained his PhD from Wageningen University (NL), investigating the utilization of wild species and other genetic resources of tomato for achieving increased stress tolerance, using whole genome SNP markers for QTL analyses and the identification/evaluation of candidate genes. He has expertise on plant tissue culture and regeneration, recombinant DNA technologies, high throughput molecular marker genomics and metabolomics analyses and molecular plant physiology and pathology. In SweetBiOmics project he will contribute on the establishment of in vitro propagation of Greek sweet cherry cultivars under thesupervision/cooperation with Prof. Athanasios Tsaftaris and Dr. Irini Nianiou-Obeidat.
