Eirini Bosmali (EB-Female) is a Ph.D. candidate at the laboratory of Food Science at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH). She gained her graduation in Agricultural Sciences and her Postgraduate in Chemistry and Food Technology. She has highly experienced in molecular techniques (isolation of genomic and plasmid DNA and RNA from plant tissues, DNA digestion with restriction enzymes, gene cloning in plasmid vectors, bacterial treatment) and genetic studies through molecular markers and DNA barcoding. In this project she will work on establishment of molecular markers for sweet cherry while strongly interact with metabolomics and transcriptomics analyses (ES, AX and MM) under the supervision/cooperation with Dr. Panagiotis Madesis and Dr. Ioannis Ganopoulos.
Dr. Athanassios Molassiotis (AM-Male) is Associate Professor of Pomology in the Faculty of Agriculture, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Greece (AUTH). He has published 60 research papers in peer reviewed (SCI) Journals, 9 research papers in other peer reviewed Journals, 3 Chapters in Books and Conference Proceedings (National and International), more than 90 presentations to national and international conferences, and has over 1265 citations (h–index 18). He has co-ordinated or participated in 18 funded research projects and in 2 European COST actions.
Dr. Ioannis Ganopoulos (IG-Male) is researcher of Institute of Plant Breeding and Genetic Resources- Hellenic Agricultural Organization Demeter and has a scientific background on plants biotechnology on genetics and genomics, developing molecular markers (RAPD, SSR, ISSR, SNP) to identify population structure and phylogenetic relationships. His main research interests focus on plant molecular breeding, plant population genetics and genomics, genetic diversity, DNA barcoding and molecular markers. His recent scientific interests focus on epigenetics, DNA methylation and trascriptomic analysis for molecular breeding purposes. He has participated in four research projects, one of them competitive European project. He has published eighty (80) reviewed articles in SCI journals. He was a co-worker in national/international projects and he was Editor in Frontiers in Plant Science journal.
Dr. Panagiotis Madesis (PM-Male) is principle investigator in Institute of Applied Biosciences (CERTH) with scientific topic on the applications of modern genetics, genomics, proteomics and metabolic technology on production and control of food, high added value products and organisms, and molecular diagnostics. His research interests are focused on plant breeding through conventional and biotechnological methods for increasing plant biomass production, resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses, producing valuable products, genotyping of plants species and varieties, the valuation of biodiversity through species identification. He is participating as partner in several funded projects.
Dr. Filippos (Phil) A. Aravanopoulos (FA-Male) http://users.auth.gr/~aravanop/, Professor of Forest Genetics and Tree Breeding will be the FGL-AUTH Local Scientific Responsible Project Coordinator. He serves as a National Representative in the EUFORGEN (European Forest Genetic Resources Network) and currently is the Leader of the EUFORGEN Genetic Monitoring Working Group. He is the Chairman of the NAGREF (National Agricultural Foundation of Greece) Scientific Council having responsibility over 32 Research Institutes and 20 Research Stations in the areas of Agriculture, Forestry, Veterinary Science and Fisheries. He is also the Deputy-Chairman, International Union of Forest Research Organisations (IUFRO), Population, Ecological and Conservation Genetics. He has served as an FAO expert in the preparation of the State of the World Forest Genetics Report (2012-2014). He has published over 72 refereed international journal papers, including 50 in IF journals and 12 in national journals.
